Early Years Foundation Stage
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and will be supported by all of our staff in order for them to fulfil their full potential. A child’s experience in their early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important as it provides the foundations for children to make the most of their abilities and talents.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a structure of learning, development and care for children from birth to five years old. The EYFS ensures children learn through play and it’s 4 principles shape our early years practice.
The four guiding principles are;
A unique child
Positive relationships
Enabling environments
Learning and Development
We are constantly observing and assessing every child and we work closely with parents to keep them informed on their child’s progress. A named member of staff is assigned to each individual child to support their development and act as their key point of contact for the parent/carer. This person will ensure that they are meeting the specific needs of the child by planning activities that are interesting to them and developmentally appropriate.
